Consumerisation of IT is good for business

icones_(8)_5x8.gifThe consumerisation of IT has been the headlines a lot recently: the merry tangle between Apple, Google, Microsoft and Nokia for dominance of the device OS market, the impact of tablets on enterprise IT, and the way that enterprises are switching on to social media as a tool for not only getting closer to customers, but as a way of improving internal collaboration.

To get to bottom what all this means to the IT department, I've been talking to leading IT commentators. First up is social media expert Joanne Jacobs who consults for large brands and also is a promoinent speaker on social media, devices and collaboration. She was previously a Lecturer in the MBA program at the Brisbane Graduate School of Business at Queensland University of Technology.
