Why Killing ideas Fosters More Innovation

Bluenove's Martin Duval is not only a successful entrepreneur and an open-minded innovator. He is also a controversial business writer with French flair who can deliver straight to the point conclusions. Whereas most would-be innovators will lay a stress on the production of new ideas - the ideation process - Duval knows, like most hardened innovators, that the truth lays not in that process but in the more delicate art of rejection and ... killing innovations. Here are his thoughts on the subject, for the benefit of our readers:Lately, I had a chance to describe the challenges faced by French......

A couple of interesting wearable computing news pieces landed on my desk this week. First up is this one from Dr Peter Harrop, Chairman, IDTechEx, which looks at technology breakthroughs in human body sensing. He says that the Holst Centre in the Netherlands is important work in body area network to monitor vital signs or control drug delivery for e-medicine applications. Recently published research by InterMedia has uncovered internet penetration in the country of 4%. However, that looks set to rise rapidly because the survey predated the recent arrival of new international cables that are set to bring cheaper fixed and mobile internet connectivity to users. Four cables - Glo One, Main One, WACS and ACE - now serve the country and are set to radically alter the penetration picture. That penetration level is borne out by research from BuddeComm, which reports a figure of 4.9% or 1.1m users for 2008. BuddeComm also reported that there are 140 licensed ISPs in......
