The two fastest growing markets in the world according at the moment are China and Brazil. Yee May Leong, senior vice president for the Asia Pacific at Orange spoke about the growing power of China. She pointed out that when the children of China today enter the workforce the world will be a very different place. They will be in the world's biggest economy and will be in number one in finance, automotive, resources and luxury goods.
Over the last six months Orange customer demands have changed in China. They are increasingly looking for coverage at more than just the five or six major centers such as Shanghai, Beijing and Shenzhen. Manufacturing is moving northwards and companies need to have network support there and are demanding that their service providers are responsive. Interestingly she says that companies want to have connectivity as soon as possible and would prefer a three star service now rather than to wait for a five star service.
In a separate presentation, Michael Escoe, Senior VP for Marketing in the Americas for Orange spoke of the opportunities in the Americas, particularly in Latin American (LAM). Key countries here are Mexico and Brazil he said, with Orange having a significant customer service presence in in Rio and Petropolis to serve Spanish and Portuguese speaking markets.
